Classic Car Detailing in Renton, WA
Some cars aren’t driven to work. They come out on dry weekends, sit under covers through the winter and cost more to look at the wrong way than most people’s daily drivers. Classic car detailing has a different goal: make the car look its best without taking anything away from it.
Signature Auto Detail cares for classics and collector cars in Renton. One owner brought in a 1991 Toyota MR2 and left a review praising the work. Here is how we approach cars like that.

Got a car worth protecting?
Start With What the Car Is

A modern daily driver and a 40-year-old sports car need different handling. Older paint may be original, repainted or thin from decades of polishing. Chrome and trim are often irreplaceable. Interiors may carry original vinyl, leather or cloth that can’t be swapped out if it’s damaged.
That’s why classic car detailing starts with questions before we touch the car. What’s original? What has been repainted? What do you love about it, and what bothers you? The answers decide how much polishing is wise and which products suit the materials.
Paint: Gentle First, Then Only as Needed
The goal with older paint is to restore gloss while removing as little as possible. We inspect the finish under strong light and start with the lightest approach that works. Our Exterior Detail includes clay bar decontamination, one-step paint correction and a hand wax, and Platinum and Signature step up to two-step correction for cars that need it.
Not every flaw should be polished out. A small blemish that is part of an original finish may be worth leaving. We’ll tell you honestly which is which. See our page on paint correction for how the process works and what it can’t fix.
Hand wash and hand wax
Classic finishes and delicate trim respond best to hand work. A careful hand wash and a hand wax keep contact gentle and give you the deep, warm gloss many owners prefer on older paint. Our hand car wash is the simplest way to keep a collector car clean between details.

Interior, Engine Bay and the Details People Notice
Classic car detailing means covering the places other people skip. Our Premium, Platinum and Signature details include a steam clean of door jambs and wheel wells and an engine and motor compartment steam clean and dress. Interior work covers carpets, upholstery, floor mats, panels, dash and plastics, and the higher packages add fabric protectant and a leather conditioner.
Leather and vinyl that have dried out over the years need conditioning, not heavy scrubbing. We choose the cleaning method to match what’s in the car. For smells that settle into old interiors, we also offer ozone odor treatment, quoted per vehicle.
Protection for a Car You Don’t Drive Every Day
A garage-kept classic faces different threats: moisture, dust and the occasional wet drive home from a show. For many collectors, a quality hand wax or sealant is enough, and it keeps the finish easy to maintain. Our Platinum Detail uses a paint sealant, and the Signature Detail uses FlightShield reactive polymer with a 3-year warranty.
A ceramic coating suits cars that see regular use or live outdoors. What ceramic coating costs depends on the paint’s condition, and our full-service detail page shows the options side by side.
Getting Ready for Storage or a Show
- Detail the car before it goes into winter storage so dirt and moisture don’t sit on the finish for months.
- Wash and wax before the first outing of the season, and again before a show.
- Let the car dry fully before putting a cover on it.
- Keep a soft cover on a stored car. Rain, humidity and condensation are constant in Western Washington, and our guide to protecting paint in the Pacific Northwest explains why.

Done carefully, no. We inspect the paint first, start with the lightest approach and remove as little as possible. If a car is better left alone in a particular spot, we'll say so.
It depends on the size of the car and the work it needs. Our Exterior Detail starts at $325 for small vehicles and our Premium Detail at $400, and older cars that need extra time may cost more. We quote every job free.

A hand wax or paint sealant suits most garage-kept cars. A ceramic coating makes more sense for a car that's driven regularly or kept outside. We'll recommend based on how you use it.
